Sunday Reflection: No Normal

The readings for this week can be found on the Sunday Worship Survival Kit.

Hope that this week has found you well and that you are keeping positive as we start to see talk of how the lockdown may begin to ease.

This is still an important time for prayer and reflection as we look forward to celebrating the birth of the church at Pentecost.

This week, intercessions have been provided by Pat Gay in High Littleton:

Lord God, You are the source of all goodness.

Thank you for the extraordinary outpouring of selflessness, compassion, help and generosity shown by so many during this period of lockdown.

You are the source of all creativity.

Thank you for the inventiveness shown by so many to overcome the problems and challenges presented by this virus.

We are sorry for the ways in which doubts and negativity creep into our thoughts, crowding out the remembrance of these many blessings and lowering our mood. Forgive us we pray.

Compassionate God, we pray for all who are grieving for loved ones who have died at this time. We pray for all who are unwell, especially for those whose treatment has been delayed due to lockdown.

We pray for the depressed and the lonely, and for those whose homes are not places of safety. We ask for comfort, healing and help for them all.

We ask for your help and encouragement for all involved with the many charities who seek to help the disadvantaged, the vulnerable and the poorest both here and across the world.

We pray especially for those organising Christian Aid week this year, remembering the difficulties of fundraising in this lockdown period. Lord, hear our prayer.

God of Wisdom, we pray for our own government and for governments across the world. As they discuss, plan and decide how best to address the concerns and needs of the people they govern, give them your guidance and encouragement. We remember those peoples who live under repressive leaders and we pray that it may not always be so.

Powerful God, we pray for your church, and for all those who lead it. As we look ahead to Pentecost, inspire and encourage us all with your Spirit as we seek to tell and live out Your story in the world.

We pray in Jesus’ name………AMEN
